In our last session of Garden Club for the term, students enjoyed creating miniature gardens in a jar called terrariums. We learnt about the varying layers necessary in the terrariums as well as appropriate plants that could be used such as mosses, ferns and succulents. By placing the lid back on our gardens we learnt that it creates a miniature ecosystem where the moisture from the soil and plants evaporates within the jar and then falls back to the plants and soil providing a constant supply of water. Everyone had a great time decorating and individualising their terrariums. Thank you to Kylie and Gill for a fantastic first term of Garden Club.
